To fill in the request Boskalis had, BAS Mining Trucks delivered four 10×4 tippers with a capacity of 33m3 to the project to haul the material from the mine to the refinery. Because of the ‘stickiness’ of bauxite, the inside of the tipper bodies were specially designed for this project and provided with a layer of special anti-adherent coating. There was already a workshop for heavy equipment on site, in which an expat of BAS Mining Trucks was employed for the duration of the project. Together with local mechanics, he managed to keep the uptime of the trucks above 90%.
